Introduction
This survey is designed by Libraries Rising to capture the skills, knowledge, and training needs of the library workforce who support children and young people in public libraries.
Libraries Rising is a collaborative network made up of our members, partners and supporters.
We believe in the need for safe spaces and real-life connections to support the demands of modern life. We want all children and young people to feel right at home at the library. Together, we’re working with leaders in children’s, public and schools library services and children and young people to co-create the future library, a place where they feel understood, empowered and inspired. We do this through our partner work, the Youth Engagement Network, training and professional development, the Children and Young People's Promise, research and advocacy. We’re excited about the future of libraries, with good reason. Our work is creating spaces where children and young people are inspired by possibilities.
Your responses will help us build a clearer picture of collective strengths and challenges, so we can shape better support, training, and resources for public libraries. Libraries Rising is the working name of Association of Senior Children’s and Education Librarians (formerly known as ASCEL).
The questions are designed for you to work through at pace, it should take around 10 minutes to complete.
We ask that you respond on a scale of 1-5, please give your first/gut reaction to the scale (you may return to a question to adjust this score if you would like as you work through the questions but not after submission).
At the end of the survey, there is a free form area for you to add any further comments, information and feedback.
If there is something that comes up that you would like to comment on part way through, it may be worth taking a note of this.
