This survey seeks to better understand the impacts of natural disasters on members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community of Far North Queensland.

If you are over the age of 18, identify as LGBTI and you, your home or business were impacted by Cyclone Yasi in 2011, we would very much appreciate your participation. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Answers are completely anonymous.

The survey is part of an Australian Research Council (ARC) funded project being undertaken by researchers at the University of Western Sydney and the University of Sydney. Research in various locations around the globe suggests that, as members of a marginalised group, LGBTI individuals, couples and families experience a range of vulnerabilities in natural disaster contexts. This project seeks to understand the extent to which LGBTI identity has played a role for Australians and New Zealanders impacted by disasters.

The researchers will also be conducting in-person interviews in Townsville. If you would like to participate in a recorded interview or would like any further information about the project, please contact Scott McKinnon at the email address or telephone number below.
