Catch the Wave - Transform Spaces to Empower All Learners
Holiday Inn Resort
Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina
March 19-21, 2017

Thank you for your interest in presenting at the 2017 North Carolina Chapter Conference.  We are pleased that you are considering joining us and we look forward to reviewing your proposal. The intended audience includes school district superintendents, educators, facility and operations managers, planners, designers and builders whose collective mission is to improve the environments where children learn.  Conference attendees will self-select into concurrent sessions. Presenters will have sixty (60) minutes to interact with attendees and present information on a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to:
*the relationship between facilities and learning
     *facility planning and consensus building
*recent developments and opportunities in STEAM programs
*trends in green design for educational purposes, i.e. outdoor learning
     *opportunities for learning anywhere, anytime
*school construction costs and educational funding - where are they heading and why
*lessons learned regarding school security upgrades

The conference is organized to present a balance between practical information and forward-thinking concepts.  The North Carolina Chapter is most interested in seminars with a emphasis on experience gained from actual projects using tried tools, technologies and practices that architects, planners, school facility managers and superintendents can take home and use or adapt.  Each session should include key "lessons learned" that can be put into practice to enhance projects or affect change.

Though not mandatory, presenters are encouraged to collaborate with peers in other fields (i.e. architects, school district personnel, ) in order to bring a broad perspective to the subject. Real life examples should be used and case studies are encouraged. In an effort to provide our participants with the most useful training and information, we will not consider proposals with a commercial or product-oriented focus.

Sessions will be sixty (60) minutes in length, with a balance of time for presentation and group discussion. AV equipment will be available, if requested. All speakers must register and pay the regular conference fee.  All speakers must provide an electronic copy of their presentation on or before March 10, 2017, and are welcome to forward to the contacts below.  All presentations will be converted to PDF files and posted to the Association for Learning Environments North Carolina website following the conference..  All proposals for consideration must be submitted on or before January 31, 2017.
