2017 KIDS COUNT Retreat Registration

2017 KIDS COUNT Retreat Registration

NOTE:  If you did not receive the save-the-date or registration email for the 2017 KIDS COUNT Retreat, please check with Casey staff before registering.

Thank you for registering for the 2017 KID COUNT Retreat, to be held on Wednesday, September 13, at the Bethesda DoubleTree, 8210 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. The hotel is close to the Metro red line, which leads to Capitol Hill.  We chose this location to facilitate meetings with Congressional delegations while you’re in town. The hotel is 35 minutes from National Airport, 40 minutes from Dulles, and 45 minutes from BWI.

This meeting is open to the senior leader of each KIDS COUNT organization and members of the KIDS COUNT Steering Committee, and has been planned for the day before the annual Partnership for America’s Children Executive Directors Retreat,  which will be held at the same hotel. If you received this registration but cannot attend or want to send someone else from your organization, please contact your Casey Foundation program officer.

Our facilitator will be Bill Potapchuk. The day is being designed to continue accelerating our race equity work and to maximize peer learning. Through a carefully constructed agenda, we will:

  • Learn how KIDS COUNT organizations are responding to federal and state policy challenges in an unprecedented dynamic environment
  • Explore strategies for how your organization, no matter how situated, can strengthen its advocacy in multiple policy arenas
  • Continue our emphasis on race and ethnic equity and inclusion with a special focus on children in immigrant families

Please complete this registration survey BY WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9

Arrival and Departure Information

Please plan to arrive Tuesday evening, September 12, so you are ready to start on Wednesday morning. The KIDS COUNT Retreat will conclude with dinner Wednesday evening, so you should plan to depart Thursday morning, September 14.

If you will also be attending the Partnership Executive Directors Retreat, use the Partnership registration link, which you will have received separately, to register for both meetings.

Travel and Hotel Expenses

Unlike past retreats, the logistics for the 2017 KIDS COUNT Retreat are being handled by the Partnership for America’s Children, so the process will differ from past retreats. The contact person at the Partnership is Susan Kilbourne. If you have any questions, you can reach her at skilbourne@4americaschildren.org

Please make your own travel arrangements. DO NOT USE THE CASEY TRAVEL DEPARTMENT.  If you have already booked your flights, input that information in the survey below.  Otherwise, email your flight info to Susan when you have it.  Following the retreat, you will be asked to submit a reimbursement form and your original receipts, so the Partnership can reimburse your travel expenses.

The Casey Foundation will cover the cost of your hotel room for September 12 and 13. If your travel arrangements require an additional night, please contact Susan. Your room will be included on the master bill and your reservation will be handled by the Partnership, using the information you provide through this survey.  You will receive an email with your hotel confirmation number closer to the retreat. When you arrive at the hotel, you will be asked to provide a credit card for incidentals, which will be your responsibility.

The KIDS COUNT Retreat will include:

  • Breakfast, morning break, lunch, afternoon break, and dinner on Wednesday
  • All meeting materials
