Nomination Form

Recipients of The silicon valley organization’s Distinguished Business Awards are honored at the Annual Membership Celebration, taking place Thursday, April 20th, 2017. All awardees must be members of The silicon valley organization at the time award is bestowed.

Nominations are accepted in the following categories:

DISTINGUISHED BUSINESS LEADER AWARD
Awarded to an individual who has demonstrated long-term excellence in both business and civic engagement. Nominees should have demonstrated leadership and continuous service to the greater Silicon Valley region through the promotion of business, civic engagement, community promotion, philanthropic support and quality of life enhancements. This is a lifetime achievement award. The nominator should consider information about the nominee such as honors, awards and recognition received. Past honorees include Becky & Jim Morgan, The Morgan Family Foundation (2015), and Michael & Mary Ellen Fox, M.E. Fox & Company Inc.(2016).

BUSINESSWOMAN AND BUSINESSMAN OF THE YEAR
Awarded to individuals who, during the past five years, have made significant contributions to the development of business and the region’s economy. Nominees should also have demonstrated professional accomplishment, as well as a commitment to the community. Nominees should be a current SVO member. Past honorees include Shelly Paiva, C.H. Reynolds & Joseph Nettemeyer, Valin Corporation (2015), and Claudia Folzman,Iron Construction & Mark Tersini, KT Urban (2016).

 
BUSINESS ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR
An individual who has demonstrated effective political action and engagement on behalf of the region's business community to local, state or federal elected officials. The nominee should be an individual who has served as a respected voice of business to help promote job creation and business growth strategies in public policy decisions. Past honorees include Pete Constant, Former San Jose City Council Member, District 1 (2015), and Ru Weerakoon,City of San Jose (2016).

SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
Awarded to a small business that has a history of outstanding business practices in the Silicon Valley region and acted in support of the small business community. This award is to honor the entrepreneurship, sustainability, productivity and effort put forth in a small business. A Small Business is typically recognized as having 25 employees and under. Nominees should be current SVO members. Past honorees include Crewners Barber Shop (2015), Steve Ciabottoni, 360 Payment Solutions (2016).


NON-PROFIT OF THE YEAR
Awarded to a Non-Profit that during the past three years has made significant contributions to the Silicon Valley community. Non-Profit nominees must be a 501c3. Past honoree: TeenForce (2015) and Chad Bojorquez, Downtown Streets Team (2016).

BUSINESS HALL OF FAME AWARD
Last year's honorees include: Gene Gugliemo, Gary Gugliemo & George Gugliemo with Guglielmo Winery, Brian Dell'Ergo with Westin San Jose, Irene Chavez with Kaiser Permanente, Stan Vukovich with KBM Workspace, Barbara Kamm with Technology Credit Union, and Dr. Paul Bepreau with Good Samaritan Hospital.
