PURPOSE OF STUDY
You are being asked to take part in a research study. Before you decide to participate in this study, it is important that you understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please read the following information carefully. Please ask the researcher if there is anything that is not clear or if you need more information.
The purpose of this study is to determine why and how practitioners integrate human animal interactions into a session. If you decide to volunteer for the study, you will be asked to complete a demographic survey and an interview to be scheduled at your convenience.
STUDY PROCEDURES
If you decide to take part in this qualitative study immediately following having read and signed the informed consent, you will be asked to complete a demographic survey. Please finish the survey form. At the end of the survey, please indicate whether you want to participate in a follow-up interview lasting approximately 45 minutes. The interview will focus on your work and lived experience in the field of HAI. If you choose to participate, I will email you to set up a time and date that is convenient for you. The interview will be conducted, recorded, and transcribed via ZOOM.
RISKS
Breach of confidentiality: All identifying information will be removed, and only first names will be used unless the participant prefers to utilize an alias. Audio recording of interviews, transcripts, and all other electronic data will be password-protected
You may decline to answer any or all questions, and you may terminate your involvement at any time if you choose.
BENEFITS
There will be no direct benefit to you for your participation in this study. However, I hope that the information gathered from this study will help fill research gaps in the HAI field, which could, in the future, lead to more rigorous research. However, it is also beneficial for new and current HAI practitioners to see what others in the field find most successful in their personal HAI practice.
CONFIDENTIALITY
For the purposes of this research study, your comments will not be anonymous. Every effort will be made by the researcher to preserve your confidentiality, including the following:
Audio recordings will be encrypted. Notes, interview transcriptions, and any other identifying participant information will be password-protected for 3 years in the personal possession of the researcher and then destroyed at the end of this period of time.]
Participant data will be kept confidential except when the researcher is legally obligated to report specific incidents. These incidents include, but are not limited to, incidents of abuse and suicide risk.
CONTACT INFORMATION
If you have questions at any time about this study, or you experience adverse effects as a result of participating in this study, you may contact the researcher whose contact information is provided on the first page. If you have questions regarding your rights as a research participant, or if problems arise which you do not feel you can discuss with the Primary Investigator, please contact the Institutional Review Board at irb@trident.edu.
