MISSION (Why do we exist?)  Our United Methodist mission is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

VISION (What do we hope to become?)  We are called to live as an outward facing circle of people; seeking, reaching, and welcoming others into serving Jesus Christ.

VALUES (What commitments must we make to create the church that will improve our ability to fulfill our purpose?)

Methodist Articles of Religion: What Methodists believe about God and Scripture

Mission and Outreach

The Articles of Religion in the United Methodist Book of Discipline (the guiding book of our denomination) explain our core understandings of God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and God’s work, our humanity, and the Church. As a United Methodist church, we hold to these teachings and values of faith. As a Christian church, we highlight these two Articles of Religion (summarized) as not only beliefs but guiding values.
Jesus the Christ is fully God and fully man. His death and resurrection reconcile us to God and to each other. He is the eternal savior and mediator.

The Holy Bible (Old and New Testaments) reveals the Word of God so far as it is necessary for our salvation. While the Holy Spirit speaks through Scripture, reason, experience and tradition, Scripture is primary and is guide and rule for faith and practice.

The purpose of this survey is to further define and expand the VALUES of Castleton United Methodist Church. These values were originally defined by Castleton UMC as part of the Fruitful Congregation process about seven years ago.  By providing additional detail and updating our values, we can then put them into action and live into them as part of our ministry.

Please provide your honest feedback in order for church leadership to formalize our VALUES to further the mission of Jesus Christ.
