Join the Keyoh Governance Oversight Committeed Resonant Strategic has been contracted by Yinka Huwunline to develop a Keyoh Governance Strategic Plan. We are seeking Expressions of Interest from community members to participate in the Keyoh Governance Oversight Committee (KGOC) — a vital initiative to guide the development of a Keyoh Governance Strategy rooted in Dakelh values and governance practices.What is the Keyoh Governance Oversight Committee?The KGOC will oversee the creation of a governance strategy that reflects your ancestral Keyoh system and helps guide Nak’azdli Whut’en and Keyoh toward self-governance. The committee will include Keyoh family members, Elders, youth, and knowledge holders to ensure our governance system reflects Dakelh approaches to land and resource stewardship, economic development, and overall community wellness.Who Can Apply?We welcome applications from those who: Are Keyoh people in good standing and active within their Keyoh; Have experience sharing information back with their Keyoh or community; Are Elders, matriarchs, hereditary leaders, or knowledge keepers; Are active on the land (trapping, fishing, hunting, gathering, etc.); Represent youth voices; Are committed to Dakelh cultural values, respectful dialogue, and collaboration. The Oversight Committee will include members with a mix of backgrounds listed above, and guaranteeing at least two youth representatives and two elder representatives. We aim for the committee to have representation from all clans. Meetings will be held in person in Nak'azdli/Fort St. James. An online option will be available to ensure those who live outside the area can participate.There will also be a liaison from Yinka Huwunline who will attend committee meetings to ensure continuity of the committee’s work.The committee will be facilitated by a representative of Resonant Strategic, the consulting firm tasked with developing the Keyoh Governance Strategic Plan.What You’ll Do as a Committee Member Guide the development of the Keyoh Governance Strategy and five-year implementation plan; Direct engagement with the community using culturally grounded approaches; Review, advise, and provide feedback on research and policy recommendations; Attend regular meetings and participate in planning, workshops, and reviews; Collaborate with technical advisors and contribute to dispute resolution when needed. Term and Commitment The committee will meet monthly from May 29, 2025 to March 31, 2026, with the possibility of renewal. Note that no meetings will be held in August or December Members must be willing to attend meetings, review documents, and uphold principles of respect, commitment, and cultural collaboration.
