This consultation form is intended to collect inputs, proposals and recommendations from civil society partners working around SDG16 (peace, justice, civic space, human rights, accountable institutions) and its interlinkages across the other goals of the 2030 agenda, to contribute to the drafting of the “2026 Civil Society Declaration on SDG16+".

With severe backsliding in progress around SDG16+ issues on all fronts, and existential threats to civil society on the rise, this Declaration comes at a critical time for civil society to speak out collectively against these disturbing downward trends at international and national levels, and call on governments and the international community to take action.

This new Civil Society Declaration on SDG16+ will serve as an important resource for the 2026 SDG16 Conference, to be held in New York on 16-17 June 2026. The drafting of this advocacy resource seeks to build upon the previous five versions of the Rome Civil Society Declaration on SDG16+, and will look to identify areas where amplified actions to safeguard commitments are needed to further support for implementation and accountability of SDG16+ in 2026 and beyond.

Deadline for inputs: Thursday, 30 April 2026

In addition to submission of written inputs, we will host a virtual consultation workshop on initial inputs into the Declaration on 15 April 2026, followed by a consultation workshop on a draft of the Declaration on Wednesday, 20 May 2026 at 9AM ET / 3PM CET. Please note that while this Declaration will be drafted on a consensus-driven approach, we are committed to ensuring that all inputs are adequately reflected as best as possible. However, given the breadth and volume of contributions that we are likely to receive, please note that some content may need to be synthesized, edited or contextualized to fit within the themes and structure of the Declaration. As this is required, we will do our best to ensure that the spirit of your inputs are faithfully reflected.
