UNDERSTANDING THE OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES FACED BY BIWOC BETWEEN 2019 TO 2021

The startup ecosystem is a sector that promises many opportunities yet -  where are all the Black, Indigenous and Women of Colour startup founders?

Are you a Black, Indigenous (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) or Women of Colour (BIWOC)*, including trans, gender diverse and non-binary people self-identifying as women founder who has faced access barriers to enter the Australian startup ecosystem?

Is it because we don't want to participate or because we face barriers to accessing it?

The objective of this survey is to develop key insights to answer these important questions. We aim to do this by collecting and analysing data from participants that are: a) aged 18 and above, b) identify as BIWOC start-up founders and c) based in Australia.

Note: If you Do Not Fulfill the Criteria listed above, please exit this survey.

Our goal is to identify and quantify their opportunities and challenges including funding gaps (especially venture capital funding) within Australia between 2019 to 2021.

In addition, we are continuing to build a Diverse Founders Directory to showcase the many BIWOC startup founders in the ecosystem and will add you to this Directory, which will be completed by March 2022. For more information about this initiative, refer to our website.

If you proceed through our screening questions in the first section of this survey (from Q1 to Q13), you will be able to get a gift card of $25 to redeem at a 100% BIWOC-owned business. At the end of this survey, you will be able to select the business of your preference. See the list of BIWOC businesses we are supporting in this link.

Please note that we respect your privacy in providing your personal information and are committed to protecting your data. By participating in this survey, you consent to allow us to store and process the personal information submitted in a confidential manner.
