Scholarships: We seek to ensure that the Mpact Transit + Community Conference is a welcoming place where people from diverse backgrounds and positions are able to learn, network, and belong. We recognize that attending a conference involves a financial commitment that cannot always be supported by an individual or their organization. Each year we provide a limited number of scholarships to reduce or eliminate these financial barriers.
Who are scholarships for? Applications are reviewed and approved based on demonstrated need (could this individual otherwise attend the conference?). At this time, we have a limited number of scholarships to offer and applications are open only to those working for or associated with community-based organizations or transit advocacy organizations, especially those who identify as Black/Indigenous/Persons of Color. We are only able to award one scholarship per person. If you have received a scholarship to attend our conference before (it was formerly called Rail~Volution), you are not eligible to re-apply.
What do scholarships cover? There are two categories of assistance: conference registration (free) and travel/hotel stipend ($500). Applicants may choose to request either or both categories. Mobile workshop tickets are not included as part of the scholarship program.
Important Dates: Scholarship applications are due by 11:45pm CDT on August 11, 2023, with awards announced by August 25, 2023. Applications received after August 11 will be considered on a rolling basis pending eligibility and available funds.
