Projects Survey - July 2020

Your input is needed to help guide our upcoming projects! The Club would like to plan some projects and other networking opportunities that allow us to serve the community in a safe capacity.

Question Title

* 1. Theater Volunteer - The Club has been offered the opportunity to volunteer once a month at the Charles Theatre. The Club would be committing to serve the 3rd and/or 4th Thursday of each month, and we would need to provide 4 volunteers each time. The job looks like this: 1 Rotarian to take tickets and money at the door, 1 Rotarian to make the popcorn, 1 Rotarian to work the concession counter, 1 Rotarian to work the concession money table. With the concerns about social distancing, COVID19 and the limitations imposed on the theater. They will only be allowing roughly 80 persons to attend each show. For the safety of the volunteers, there are partitions at the front for ticket purchases, as well as a partition at the concession stand. Finally, the money table will also be situated with a shield. Masks must be worn in all of these positions. All volunteers may stay for the movie at no charge, and also are allowed pop and popcorn free if they stay. If you decide you can't stay for whatever reason, you are allowed to take a free pass for the entry as well as a Large Combo as a thank you from the theater for your time.

Question Title

* 2. Skate Park Demo for Scrap Metal - The Club has been offered the opportunity to take on the demolition of the current skate park and collect the available scrap metal. It appears this project would entail several members taking apart the skate ramps, trashing the rotten wood and collecting the metal. This would be a community service and maybe yield around $100 in scrap metal toward our next drive.

* 3. Santa’s House Renovations - The Club has been offered the opportunity to take on renovations of Santa’s House in Central Park. Extensive improvements to the structure and interior were done a few years ago by members of our Club. It is now time to refresh the exterior which is at least 10 years old. The icicle trim needs replaced and the lighted window boxes and paint need refreshed. Local artist Robin Maycomber did the original work and is willing to assist again. A committee will be need to plan and carryout updates and repairs. Committee meetings can be done via Zoom if desired.
