SfRBM Trainee Council Call for Nominations

Call for Nominations: SfRBM Trainee Council (2026 Election)

The Society for Redox Biology and Medicine (SfRBM) is seeking nominations for 3 new members to join the Trainee Council as part of the 2026 Society-wide Council elections. Successful candidates will begin their term January 1, 2027.

The SfRBM Trainee Council represents undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, residents, and clinical and postdoctoral fellows. The Council plays an integral role in supporting trainee engagement and serving as a liaison between early-career members and SfRBM leadership.

PLEASE SUBMIT MATERIALS BY JUNE 1, 2026

DUTIES OF THE TRAINEE COUNCIL
Trainee Council members are expected to organize and promote the following:
  • Content relevant for trainees, including social media initiatives and virtual seminars
  • Nomination of the SfRBM Mentoring Excellence Award
  • Professional Development programming at the SfRBM Annual Conference
  • Representation of trainee interests to the broader SfRBM Council

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must be active SfRBM members at the trainee level (undergraduate, graduate, medical student, resident, or postdoctoral fellow) with strong ideas for how SfRBM can better support early-career scientists. Self-nominations are encouraged.

SfRBM strongly encourages nominations from trainees of diverse backgrounds, disciplines, and geographic regions. In particular, we welcome and encourage nominations from trainees based in South America to strengthen regional representation and engagement within the Society.

TERMS OF SERVICE
The Trainee Council consists of 6 members serving staggered two-year terms. Newly elected members will begin their term on January 1, 2027. Please note term start and end dates may shift a few months depending on Annual Meeting scheduling.

ELECTION
Applications will be reviewed by the SfRBM Nominations/Leadership Development Committee. Selected nominees will be included on a separate elections ballot for voting by SfRBM trainee members, run in parell but separate from SfRBM Council elections. All trainee members are eligible and encouraged to vote in SfRBM Council elections in addition to Trainee Council elections.

If you have any questions about the application process, please email Müge Chavdar, Associate Director at muge@affinity-strategies.com.
