We Need Your Help!

The new KBE Wellness Policy will support the health of the whole person, giving students and staff tools they need to be successful at school, to promote wellness in their own families, and to live healthy, disease-free lives.

The Policy was created in consultation with staff, students, parents, Elders, and health/nutrition specialists.

Now, we are looking for your help to decide which parts of the Policy to focus on first.

By working on one area at a time, we make sure that the changes we make will last into the future.

Resilience - Youth have access to activities that build their self confidence and inner strength, including sports, arts, and cultural activities. 
Language and Culture - Blackfoot language is used across subjects and our schools participate in ceremonies throughout the year
Learning from Place - Students are able to learn from the land and experience the outdoors (could be through classtime, physical activity and sport, field trips, or after school/summer programs)

Mental Health - Staff have knowledge and external supports like Elders and Health Workers to care for the mental health of students. Students learn about and practice techniques to manage stress and anxiety. 
Addiction Prevention - Alcohol and Drug prevention is taught in school, and students have access to addiction supports for themselves and their families through the school.

Sense of Belonging - My school is free from lateral violence, bullying, harassment and discrimination. There is a process to report and deal with any of these behaviours. 
Healthy, Balanced Relationships - Respect is important. Parents and community members have chances to engage with the school. Mentor programs help students share their knowledge with younger ones. Students learn about healthy relationships.

Nutrition - KBE offers healthy food and provides education to promote healthy food choices, both in our Traditional Blackfoot foods and in Western foods. 
Physical Activity - There are many options for staff and students to be active throughout the week, including walking programs, recess, classroom breaks, and staff wellness opportunities.
