Job Description

Vice President – Strategic Advisory

Location: New York, NY (preference) / Hybrid with minimum 1 week per month in NYC

About Independence Point Advisors

Independence Point Advisors (“IPA”) is a modern, women-owned investment bank and advisory firm founded in 2021 and based in New York. The firm was created to bring diverse perspectives to Wall Street and deliver superior outcomes for clients through differentiated, high-quality strategic and financial advice.

IPA provides M&A, capital raising, strategic advisory and capital markets services to clients across sectors and stages of growth. The Strategic Advisory team focuses on companies at the intersection of sustainability, energy transition and power, while the Capital Markets team has underwritten hundreds of billions of dollars in equity and debt transactions through the firm’s broker-dealer, Independence Point Securities.

Role Overview

IPA is seeking a Vice President to join its Strategic Advisory team, with a focus on sustainability, energy transition and power. You will serve as a deal captain on private capital raises and M&A transactions (buyside and sellside), while taking a visible role in client dialogue and new business pitches.

This is a highly entrepreneurial, lean team environment where Vice Presidents work directly with senior Managing Directors, own key workstreams end-to-end, and have the opportunity to shape client agendas and internal initiatives to a greater extent than at larger platforms.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead transaction execution
    • Run day-to-day execution on M&A, private capital raising, and recapitalization transactions, coordinating internal and external workstreams.
    • Own key analyses, process design, timelines, and deliverables on a lean team.
  • Drive client interaction and pitches
    • Lead execution calls and meetings, and partner closely with Managing Directors on strategic discussions with C-suite and board-level clients.
    • Play an active role in pitch preparation and delivery; while revenue generation is not a formal KPI, VP+ team members are expected to actively contribute to relationship-building and pipeline development alongside senior team members.
  • Cover high-growth sectors in sustainability, energy transition, and power
    • Support clients whose business models span technology, biotech, chemicals, manufacturing, power generation, and related verticals within the broader sustainability, energy transition, and power ecosystems.
    • Bring existing knowledge in one or more of these areas, plus a strong appetite to learn new sectors and dive deeply into complex, technical business models.
  • Own analyses, materials, and modeling quality
    • Oversee and review valuation work, financial models, and other corporate finance and project finance analyses produced by Associates and Analysts.
    • Drive the creation of clear, compelling client materials, including pitch books, process documents, and board-level presentations.
  • Lead and develop the team
    • Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and feedback to Associates and Analysts in a flat, collaborative environment.
    • Potential to take on a formal staffer role and to support recruiting and training efforts as the team grows.
  • Contribute to research and thought leadership
    • Help shape IPA’s voice in the market through thought pieces, conference participation, webinars, and industry events.
    • Partner with senior team members to develop differentiated perspectives on sustainability, energy transition, and power

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (MBA a plus but not required).
  • 6+ years of full-time investment banking and/or M&A experience, or 3+ years of post-MBA experience in a relevant role.
  • Strong technical foundation in financial modeling, valuation, and transaction structuring.
  • Prior experience in, or a strong familiarity with, the sustainability, energy transition, and/or power sectors
  • Proven track record in managing complex deal processes and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence leading client discussions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating in a lean, high-ownership environment.
  • While there is a preference for NYC-based candidates, IPA is open to candidates who are willing to be in New York for at least 1 week per month.
Process:

Start date anticipated by the end of Q1/ early Q2. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, and evaluation will include multiple interview rounds and a technical/case study. Please direct all questions to recruiting@independencepoint.com.

Salary Range: $200,000 to $250,000 commensurate with experience; incentive pay package (dependent on performance of both individual and firm).
