Please read before completing the survey.
Our community is aging. More residents are asking how they can stay local, safe, and supported as their housing needs change. This survey will provide data to help the Lac du Bonnet Heritage Corporation understand interest levels, timing, affordability, and service needs. Your responses are confidential.
Your input directly helps determine:
· What size and service level is needed
· When demand is expected
· What cost ranges are realistic
What Is Assisted Living / Supportive Housing?
Assisted living is designed for seniors or adults who need help with daily activities but do not require full-time medical care.
Supportive housing provides affordable housing with access to support services for people who may face physical, mental health, or social challenges. Both are different levels of care between independent home ownership and personal care homes. They are designed for seniors who:
· Want to remain independent
· May need some daily supports
· Prefer not to manage a house anymore
Supports can range from meals and housekeeping to on-site staff for safety and assistance.
Compare the Difference between Home Ownership and Senior Living
Supportive housing brings many individual expenses together into a single monthly payment. This can simplify budgeting, reduce surprise costs, and remove much of the physical work of maintaining a home. Many seniors currently living in private homes cover multiple separate and often rising costs, including:
1. Mortgage or Rent
2. Property taxes
3. Hydro, water, sewer,
4. Internet, phone (landlines)
5. Home insurance
6. Maintenance and repairs
7. Yard care, snow removal, and exterior upkeep
8. Accessibility upgrades (ramps, bathrooms, stairs, etc.)
9. Security
10. Laundry
11. Housekeeping
12. Groceries
In contrast, assisted living or supportive housing typically offers an all-inclusive monthly cost, which may include:
- Rent
- Utilities
- Meals
- Light Housekeeping and Laundry
