Media Holders & Media Makers

Vision Maker Media is concerned that we are losing important documentation of Tribal history and culture due to the changing nature of media and digitization. Running a professional archive with proper storage, climate control, access and records is expensive, but there are basic steps that can be taken to prevent further damage to old media and keep it safe.

Vision Maker Media in conjunction with the Association of Tribal Archives, Libraries and Museums (ATALM) wants to learn from Indigenous media holders and makers about the state of Native media content and what is in danger of being lost. Together with the National Museum of the American Indian and the Sundance Institute, our goal is to expand a database of American Indian and Alaska Native media archives.

The first step is to survey media holders and media makers. Please help us make this as comprehensive as possible by sharing this survey with your peers.
