Beam Mobility, current operators of shared e-scooters in Townsville, has been approached to establish an e-scooter rideshare presence on Magnetic Island. The company proposes to set up a small operation of 40 vehicles within a defined area that would run from Nelly Bay to Alma Bay. Riders would only be able to ride within this area, and park at dedicated parking spots agreed upon by Beam, local businesses and approved by council. This would provide visitors and locals on Magnetic Island with an affordable, convenient and fun way to move around the Island where transportation can be difficult.
