SunSmart Policy Update

1.Do you support your own child to use a combination of sun protection measures when UV index levels are 3 or above (generally early-August – mid May)?
2.Would you like to see students encouraged and supported to develop independent sun protection skills more proactively?
3.Do you believe the current proposed GHPS strategies for providing shade in addition to provided areas of shade is adequate to protect students from UV exposure?

These strategies include:

· opening up the library for board games, library club

· opening the gymnasium for students to seek shade

· providing a range of clubs such as origami, coding, Art, Science and games clubs

· providing quiet activities on the shaded area outside of the library on high UV days

· providing a ‘Sweat’ timetable on days over 34 degrees or high UV days

· reminding students to wear hats and providing shaded areas for students who do not have hats

· reminders to apply sunscreen (sunscreen station) to advocate for sunscreen usage

·
4.What initiatives could be added to the GHPS SunSmart Policy? Please note- suggestions need to align to the Department of Education Victoria Policy Advisory Service.
