The deadline for survey responses is midnight on 5th May 2025
Skipton Town Council has recently undertaken an Active Travel Study in Skipton and together with its local partners, including Climate Action Skipton, now wants to hear what local people, groups and organisations think of the four main project ideas the study identified.
Skipton Town Council’s partners include Climate Action Skipton, North Yorkshire Council, Craven College, Skipton BID and Skipton Building Society.
This survey will take ten minutes to complete. The ideas described in this survey are indicative and here to start a conversation around making Skipton Town Centre a thriving place which is safe and easier to access on foot, by wheelchair or mobility aid, cycle, bus, train and car over the next decade.
What do we mean by Active Travel?
Active travel refers to any mode of transportation that involves physical activity, like walking, wheeling (using a wheelchair or mobility aid), cycling, or scootering, for everyday journeys. It's essentially incorporating physical activity into daily commutes and errands, rather than just for leisure or fitness.
Why is active travel important for Skipton town, residents, visitors and organisations including businesses?
It provides numerous benefits for individual health and well-being, while also supporting the environment. For individuals, active travel offers a convenient way to meet physical activity guidelines, improving cardiovascular health, reducing the risk of chronic diseases, and boosting mental well-being. Active travel can reduce the burden on our health system by promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing preventable illnesses. Additionally, it contributes to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future by reducing air pollution and traffic congestion. (Source: NHS England).
