EARMILK is on the hunt for detail-oriented candidates with a passion for journalism to take part in a copy-editing internship program. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified candidate to gain exposure and learn the day-to-day responsibilities of an editor to work in the music industry.
Copy editors are responsible for creating and reviewing the work of the best music reporters and writers in the world. Must be creative in suggesting changes, verify sources and correct grammar and punctuation in order to prepare the work for publication. You will work with genre ambassadors, social media team members, editing website copy, online and print ads or other marketing materials.
It's a great opportunity to learn various styles of writing and reporting on the music industry and take advantage of the fun perks that come along with being part of the EARMILK team. We offer college credit only for our internships. The copy-editing internship is designed for students and recent graduates with either a college or an advanced education degree in creative writing or english to learn and gain next level writing experience. Candidates with other majors will be considered if they have demonstrated previous journalism or copy editing experience and interest.
Duties:
This is a part-time position requiring at least 10 hours of work per week. (varies depending on college academic requirements)
Proof read, edit, review, create, monitor, write and type content following AP style to ensure it is ready for publication.
Applicants can work remotely.
Assist in ensuring that all necessary assets are in place for publication.
Log, document, report and track content through various stages of the publishing pipeline.
Will be given the opportunity to produce some original content.
Will pitch articles and will receive a byline if the article is published.
Other job related duties as assigned.
