Introduction + Respondent Data

Educators near and far are exploring K-8 schools as an option.  Decreasing budgets are forcing some to explore them as cheaper alternatives.  In some urban areas a shortage of available land is driving the notion.  Still others are simply intrigued by the concept, have heard good things, or intuit potential benefits.  Regardless of the reason, the question remains, “Do K-8 schools work?”

Definitive studies on the topic are limited and what does exist is somewhat dated, so we are reaching out to informed educators with K-8 ties to ask them their opinions based on their experience.  What was most successful about the K-8 school in which you worked?  What was most challenging?  Given the choice, would you teach/administer in a K-8 school?  Why or why not?  Our hope is to glean something from the collective wisdom of those who’ve walked this path so that those who are faced with a fork in their road can make an informed, defensible decision.
