In response to public feedback regarding traffic operations in the school campus area, the Jordan School District and City of Jordan commissioned a traffic study to help identify specific issues and potential solutions. A preliminary design has been developed by these partners which will work better for all transportation options to improve the efficiency and safety for people accessing the schools and passing through.
Below is the proposed layout. The design features compact roundabouts at Sunset Drive/Hillside Drive and on Sunset Drive at the north and south school property entrances.  These roundabouts will be equipped with pedestrian crossings at all sidewalk locations and push button activated flashing lights (Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons or “RRFBs”) at Sunset Drive crossings, similar to the RRFBs in Jordan along CR 66 (Old Hwy 169) and Sunset Drive at the middle school entrance. Roundabouts reduce the number of conflict points and decisions that need to be made decreasing both the rate and severity of traffic accidents.
