You are invited to paddle with the Joeys - bringing Juniors together for racing!!

The Joey's are a Junior team made up of paddlers 18 years and under from all over Australia. This initiative was introduced at the Australian Championships in 2016 to enable our youngest athletes more opportunities to race, particularly when they do not have a club team to compete with in the Junior division. The Joeys have repeatedly demonstrated the depth and quality of Juniors across Australia!

Joey's are back again for 2026!

If you are U18 and racing in Queensland with your club, or your State team and would like more racing, register to race with the Joeys! It is great place to meet other juniors and make new friends from all over Australia.

AusDBF are supporting the concept to encourage more Junior racing and will be allowing Juniors to race with both your club and with the Joeys as long as there are no clashes.

The final cost for each Junior to enter will be confirmed when we know we have enough juniors to create a Joeys crew and what each paddler is available to race in.

How much will it cost?
The entry fees set by AusDBF for 2026 are as follows. These fees are per person.

Option 1 = $95.00 per person

1 category - Racing in either opens/womens or mixed.

1 day - Racing only on Saturday 18th or Sunday 19th April.

Option 2 = $180 per person (full participation in Joeys)

2 categories - Racing - Opens / Womens AND Mixed across both days.

Joeys will aim to enter Opens/Womens and Mixed across 200m, 500m and 2000m.

You will be expected to pay AusDBF for the amount owed prior to racing and will be asked to pay through the AusDBF portal when directed.

Joey's involvement does not include providing accommodation or travel during the event. It is expected that Joeys have supervision and support to get to and from race days.
