Educate, Elevate, Empower

The Youth Advocacy Council is comprised of youth and young adults with differing abilities, ages 14 to 26, who expressed interest in participating in both leadership training and opportunities to impact how Vermont prepares students with disabilities for life after high school. Members connect with other students in Vermont, advocate for youth resources, and lead while providing community service.

We are looking for candidates, ages 14 to 26 years old (both in and out of school), who have some type of disability. This opportunity provides many benefits, including:
  • Connecting with other youth and young adult leaders across the state who are interested in advocacy
  • Potentially meeting academic requirements through personalized learning plans
  • Developing advocacy and leadership skills
  • Earning a small stipend

The council has a supportive steering committee initiated by VT Vocational Rehabilitation. The council will meet every other month to discuss topics of importance to the council and help to plan the annual Youth Summit.
