Volunteer Spirit of Worcester County Award 2021

Nominations for the Volunteer Spirit of Worcester County awards are currently being accepted by Worcester Volunteer Connection on behalf of Worcester County Commissioners. The awards recognize Worcester County residents, organizations, nonprofits, and businesses who have provided significant volunteer contributions in Worcester County. This year, the awards will represent outstanding service occurring in March 2020 - June 2021 (Lifetime Achievement nominations are exempt from stated dates).

The Nomination Form

The nominator will be asked to submit their contact information along with contact information for the individual or group nominated. In addition, the nominator must complete the narrative section describing the nominee's volunteer service and accomplishments. It is strongly encouraged that nominations include comprehensive quantitative and qualitative data to support the service described.

Eligibility:
Any individual volunteer or group of volunteers that have demonstrated commitment and dedication to Worcester County through significant and direct volunteer service between March 2020 - June 2021 can be nominated.

Nominations must represent outstanding volunteer service for the nominating category, with the following exceptions:

-The nominated volunteer must benefit citizens and have a positive influence that addresses a community problem or enhance the quality of life in Worcester County.

-For the individual nominations, the nominated volunteer service must be performed outside the context of the nominees' paid employment(i.e., it cannot be part of his/her job)

-Individuals or groups should not be nominated for their financial contributions or fundraising, political advocacy, roles as members of a board of directors, or in any other oversight or administrative roles in the nominating agency.

-Recipient of Volunteer Spirit of Worcester county award winners since 2013 may not be nominated

-Self-nominations or nominations of family members/spouses will not be accepted.

Emerging Leader: (18 to 30) An individual, family, or group who took initiative to meet a community's need through local organizing and volunteering. (Must be out of high school).

Individual: An individual (age 31 or older) who volunteers.

Lifetime Achievement: An individual who has exhibited 20 years or more of commitment to volunteerism and community service. Nominees must have a substantial and long-term impact in the community as a result of their service efforts.

Pandemic Response Champion: An individual or organization that made an extraordinary contribution to Worcester County residents in response to the pandemic.

Faith-Based: An individual, family, or a group/team that volunteers through a faith-based community organization.

Group/Team: A group or team of two or more people that volunteer together on the same project(s) under a group or team name.

Nonprofit Volunteer Program: A nonprofit whose volunteers have shown exemplary volunteerism service in carrying out the mission of the organization through direct service to the community.

Local Business: A business investing in exceptional, transformative employee volunteering that fuels employee fulfillment and fosters increased civic engagement in the community. Headquarters must reside in Worcester County.

Veteran: An individual who has served or is serving in the armed forces and volunteers in Worcester county in a capacity outside of paid employment. (supporting/volunteering on personal time for a club/civic/faith-based)

Demonstrated and engaged in meeting the pressing human and/or community needs in Worcester County.
