Future of IMSS

Future of the Intermountain States Seminar (IMSS)

Region VIII has held a multi-state, regional meeting, the Intermountain States Seminar (IMSS) for 58 years beginning in 1964. This has been an excellent conference for many years but for a number of reasons the Region VIII Council is seriously looking at the future of IMSS. Reasons include: 1. The Snow King in Jackson has become too expensive for our budget so we can no longer hold the meeting in Jackson after the 2022 meeting; 2. There has been a steady decline in attendance (last year we lost money), 3, With the requirement from ASCLS for all Regions to liquidate all assets by this summer and distribute them to the states in the region, we do not have an easy way to finance the meeting; 4. Finding volunteers to serve on the planning committee is becoming increasingly difficult; 5. Some feel we should focus more effort on our state meeting instead of spreading ourselves thin to plan two meetings each year. This will be voted on by the Council next month so I’m looking for your feedback.
1.What do you see for the future of IMSS?
2.If we keep IMSS, would you be willing to help with the planning?
3.If we keep IMSS as an in-person meeting, we would most likely rotate states. Would you be willing to travel to other states in the region for this meeting?
4.If you answered No to Question #3, do you have any comments you'd like to share?
5.How many times have you attended IMSS?
6. Please share any other comments you have below:
