Tech Skills Survey

Grades 6-8

Please complete the following survey to accurately reflect what you can do, and what you may want to learn in the future.
1.I can use a video conferencing tool on a device other than a cell phone or tablet.
2.I can use most of the following word processing skills: format a document, do spell check, word count, set margins, change font size & type, set spacing and alignment, and add headers and footers.
3.I can collaborate on documents and presentations with others using Google Drive or Microsoft Office.
4.I can create a visual or graphic display (graphic organizer) that shows the relationships between facts, terms and/or ideas.
5.I can create and deliver presentations using a variety of applications.
6.I can edit and embed images to use in presentations, videos, infographics, or other digital media.
7.I can use the following Boolean search commands to perform efficient searches (and, or, not, and not).
8.I can tell the difference between real and fake news online, and have used one or more reliable fact checking resources.
9.I can enter data into a spreadsheet and create graphs and charts of the data.
10.I can select an appropriate tool to analyze, organize, and present data.
11.I can use citation making resources to properly credit a source online (music, videos, written content, photos, research, generative AI, etc.).
12.I can use editing and commenting features in Google Drive or Microsoft Office to collaborate and share my work with others.
13.I can use appropriate technology tools (e.g., dictionary, thesaurus, grammar checker, calculator) to maximize the accuracy of my digital work.
14.I can use digital media strategically to communicate and express my ideas to others (video, audio, text, infographics, presentations, etc.).
15.I can use critical thinking strategies to determine the credibility of search results and generative AI outputs.
16.I can use multiple shortcuts on computing devices.
17.I can solve big problems by breaking them into smaller parts, finding patterns, focusing on the important details, and making step-by-step plans.
18.I can spot unsafe or dishonest things online, like fake emails, tricky ads, scams, or clickbait, and handle them correctly.
19.I can select and use different digital tools to solve a problem.
20.I can scan, use, and create QR codes to access and share information.
21.I can change my settings and use tools like screen contrast, bigger text, zoom, read-aloud, or translate to make my device easier to use.
22.I can enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to keep my accounts safer online.
23.I can identify cyberbullying behavior and take positive and responsible actions for myself and others.
24.I can troubleshoot many of the basic technology problems by trying basic fixes: restart, run anti-virus, check cords, clear cache and cookies, install updates, remove programs or extensions, do backups.
