COVID-19 and Long-Term Care: Help Us Tell YOUR Story

In late June, Governor Tom Wolf and the Pennsylvania General Assembly directed nearly $300 million in critical emergency funding to our nursing homes, assisted living communities and personal care homes through the federal CARES Act to aid in the COVID-19 response. While this one-time funding has helped our members take steps to address increased costs and keep pace with skyrocketing expenses, our advocacy for more funding and support will not end.

To be successful in this advocacy, we’ll need your help and input. We want to hear about your experience with COVID-19 in your facilities and communities thus far.

We encourage you to take just a few moments to complete this survey (below) and help us share your story with the Wolf Administration, the members of the legislature and the general public.

Your response will remain anonymous, but we plan to use the results of this survey as part of our advocacy efforts moving forward.
Given the rising costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the reality that there may be no new Medicaid or rate increases for the foreseeable future, how sustainable are your business operations?
In the wake of the pandemic, how has your census changed as compared to January 2020 (eight months ago)?
How has the pandemic affected your ability to keep and recruit qualified staff?
Did your facility use the temporary nurse aide training program? If so, how many nurse aides did you hire?
Of those individuals hired as a temporary nurse aide, how many are or may be interested in being certified as a nurse aide?
Based on your experience, how responsive has state government been in providing personal protective equipment, testing and/or other resources for your staff?
Are you experiencing shortages of PPE? If so, which items? Please check all that apply.
In your facility, what has been the cost increase for the following essential items:
As your facility has tested residents and staff, what has been the average turnaround time for receipt of results?
Has your facility reopened to visitors? If so, what has been your experience thus far?
