Community Questionnaire

Central Coast Council have engaged consultant Manly Hydraulics Laboratory (MHL) to prepare a review of the Tuggerah Lakes Flood Study that was originally completed in 1994.
The study is being undertaken by Council with funding assistance from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment which aims to build community resilience towards flooding through informing better planning of development, emergency management and community awareness. Council has established a Floodplain Risk Management Committee which is comprised of relevant council members, state government agencies and community representatives. This Flood Study Review is an important step in the floodplain risk management process for this area and will be managed by Council according to the NSW Government’s Flood Prone Lands Policy.
The aim of the study is to:
- update the previous flood study using the most current information and technologies
- help understand local flooding problems along the lake foreshore
- develop information to assist in future floodplain management activities to reduce flood impacts on the community and risk to life.
