Since 1996, the GBRIA Safety Excellence Awards have recognized outstanding safety performance by industrial contractors and member facilities. The program reflects a shared commitment to safe worksites, with contractors and plant owners working in close partnership to ensure safe work practices. By highlighting organizations that set the standard for safety excellence and collaboration, the awards strengthen GBRIA’s focus on advancing safety across the region.
Judges are drawn from GBRIA member sites and represent a wide range of career disciplines. They will review contractor submissions, including videos and supplemental documentation, and will score entries through GBRIA’s awards management platform, OpenWater, using a standardized rubric.
A brief webinar will be provided before the first round of judging. It will outline program expectations, scoring guidelines, and the process for navigating the OpenWater system.
Key Dates:
December 1: Nominations open
January 9: Nominations close
January 30: Applications due
February 9 to 20: Independent judging
February 26: First round award selection meeting
February 26: Finalists announced
