Compelling Preaching Initiative - Home Pastor Evaluation - Summer 2025

The Compelling Preaching Initiative is a grant from Lilly Endowment awarded to the Methodist Foundation of Arkansas to build the capacity for bold, innovative preaching within Arkansas United Methodist clergy.

We appreciate you taking time to participate in this survey where we’d like you to evaluate your pastor on their most recent sermon. This will help us understand better the current strengths and growing edges of preaching among our UMC clergy. Thank you for your honest assessment of their preaching skills. This information will continue to shape the programming of the CPI grant.

We expect this survey to take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. There are no additional incentives offered in exchange for completing this survey. We ask that you complete this survey prior to this upcoming Saturday, this way the next sermon does not interfere with your memory of their last sermon.

Before beginning the survey, please know that your responses to this survey are anonymous and individual answers will never be shared beyond our statistics consulting group (Dr. Lindsay Kennedy and Dr. Jennifer Peszka).

We request that you answer each of the questions in this survey and do not anticipate any risks involved in your answering of these questions, but know that you are not required to answer any question that makes you feel uncomfortable. If at any point you are uncomfortable, skip that question and move on to the next one.
Your participation is voluntary, and you may choose not to participate in this survey at any time. You will NOT be penalized in any way should you choose not to participate or to withdraw your consent.

We will do everything we can to protect your privacy. As part of this effort, your identity will not be revealed in any publication that may result from this study. Only the statistical consultants will have access to your data, and your data will be associated with an ID number rather than any real identifiable information. Your name/contact information will only be used to send you the link to this and any relevant future surveys.
