Generative AI Awareness Study

Welcome! Thank you for participating I appreciate your feedback!

I, John, am an American Public University (APUS) graduate student. With the guidance of my instructor, Dr. Small, I have been approved by the APUS Institutional Review Board to conduct research on generative AI (GenAI) study for the capstone thesis. No deception is involved, and the study involves no more than minimal risk to participants (i.e., the level of risk encountered in daily life).

You are invited to participate in this research project because you are exposed to GenAI online, typically through social media and email.

Your participation in this research study is voluntary. However, you may withdraw from the study at any time if you decide to participate.

The study is 3-5 minutes long, and participation is anonymous. Participants will complete an online survey. When data is reported, responses from individual participants will not be identified. Data will be reported in an aggregate format based on gender, age range, and background in computer science or employment demographics. I only wish to capture general awareness plus a breakout of demographic review to see if there is a difference.

All data is stored in a password-protected electronic format. It may be shared with my instructor, Dr. Small. As per APUS’s rules and regulations, the data will be stored for five years in the above-stated manner.

This research has been reviewed according to American Public University System IRB procedures for human subjects’ research. If you have any questions about the research study, please contact: the IRB Chair at American Public University System, apus-irb@apus.edu.
