Introduction

Herefordshire Council is reviewing how best to support town centres and high streets during the Christmas period.

In previous years, the council has funded a range of initiatives, including free parking at selected times. These measures require investment and, in some cases, reduce council income that would otherwise be available to support local services.

As we consider future Christmas initiatives, we want to better understand which measures provide the greatest benefit to businesses, residents and visitors.

We are particularly interested in evidence, experience and examples of impact, rather than personal preference alone. This may include information on parking arrangements, public transport initiatives, events, marketing campaigns, promotional activity or other approaches that have influenced visitor numbers, spending or business performance.

The results of this survey will be used by Herefordshire Council to inform future decisions about Christmas town centre support.
