You are invited to participate in our research project "Perfect Fit"
The desire to be tall, taut, toned and terrific is not new. We want to be fit and healthy and many of us diet and exercise to keep up appearances. This study will examine how culture is linked to body image and eating behaviours.
This research is being conducted by Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology students (Karina Woodward, Mary Nguyen, Elias Zoghbi and Andreina Love) at the University of Western Sydney under the supervision of Dr Jo Milne-Home.
It involves completing survey questions about you, your attitudes to diet, exercise and body image and your cultural affiliation or identity. Short standardised questionnaires (SMAS, EDI-3 and BIAS-BD) are included to increase the accuracy and reliability of the findings. Your participation will add to the literature on health and well-being in our multicultural society. This should take you about 15 minutes and involve no discomfort.
All aspects of the study will be confidential and your anonymity is assured. Research reports will be submitted, but individual participants will not be identifiable in either the internal project reports or publication in academic journals.
Participation is entirely voluntary: you are free to withdraw at any time without giving any reason and without consequence.
