2024 Call for the Public Health Partnership Conference Award Nominations

Please consider nominating a stellar candidate for one of the public health award categories listed below. Both nominators and award recipients will be recognized during the 2024 Public Health Partnership Conference, May 1-3, in Saratoga Springs, NY. We strongly encourage nominators to attend this event, or send a delegate as they will be included in the recognition ceremony.

The awards ceremony will take place on May 1st, 2024.

Special consideration will be given to nominees addressing the conference theme areas which include health equity, social determinants of health, healthy aging, food insecurity, harm reduction, substance use disorder and behavioral health, partnerships, health disparities, environmental health, and public health infrastructure.

The deadline for nominations has been extended to the COB 5pm EST on April 5^th, 2024.

Outstanding Contribution for Individual Service– recognizes an individual for outstanding public health service in New York State.

Outstanding Contribution for Organizational Service– recognizes an organization for outstanding public health service in New York State.

Hermann M. Biggs Memorial Medal and Certificate - this lifetime achievement award honors and recognizes an individual with demonstrated outstanding achievements in public health in New York State.

State Legislator of the Year Award – recognizes a state government legislator in New York who has been a public health champion and who has been supportive of public health issues.

Local Legislator of the Year Award – recognizes a local government legislator in New York who has been a public health champion and who has been supportive of public health issues.

NYSPHA Member of the Year Award – recognizes a current NYSPHA member for their contributions to public health in New York State or beyond, with preference given to those making specific contributions to NYSPHA

Public Health Innovation Award for NYSPHA Members - awards a NYSPHA member who led an innovative public health intervention. This intervention or practice may include demonstrations of advancing the promotion of health, wellness, disease prevention, disability, and/or injury throughout New York State.

Public Health Equity Leadership Award - recognizes an organization, local health department, state office or individual that has made longstanding contributions to the field of public health with an impact on health equity, addressing health disparities, or building diversity equity and inclusion in New York State.

Student Excellence in Public Health Award – recognizes a high school, college, or graduate student for their demonstrated commitment to public health, including leading or supporting advocacy efforts, public health initiatives, and/or community improvement projects.

Public Health Innovation Award for Local Health Departments - awards a local health department, team or professional from a local health department who led an innovative public health intervention. This intervention or practice may include demonstration of advancing the promotion of health, wellness, disease prevention, disability, and injury throughout New York State.

Excellence in Communication Award for Local Health Departments – awards a local health department, team or professional from a local health department who led a public health campaign, communication initiative, collected community feedback, conducted stakeholder outreach to advance the promotion of health, wellness, disease prevention, disability, and/or injury throughout New York State.

Environmental Health Leadership Award – recognizes an organization, local health department, district/state office or individual that has made longstanding contributions to the field of environmental public health.
