BSSH Global Partnerships Trainee Committee Application Form 2026 - 2029

We are inviting expressions of interest from BSSH associate members to join our Global Partnerships Trainee Committee to serve for a term of two years from 2026 - 2029. There are 3 positions available for trainee BSSH members.

We are willing to take on trainee members with Plastic/Orthopaedic specialties, to ensure a fair balance on the committee.

The overall vision of the BSSH Global Partnerships Committee is to use BSSH resources to deliver the maximum possible benefit for patients in need of hand surgery in under-resourced or low-income countries.

The Global Partnerships Trainee Committee work alongside the main BSSH Global Partnerships Committee to engage all trainees to develop and disseminate educational resources, and to coordinate the involvement of trainees in the wider work of the Global Partnerships Committee—developing and coordinating sustainable educational and surgical projects across the developing world.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a current BSSH trainee member in good standing.
  • Be on a specialist registrar training programme in Plastic Surgery or Orthopaedics or equivalent - ST3-ST8 or equivalent
  • Have an interest in global surgery, global health, international partnerships, or surgical education.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for promoting equitable and sustainable global partnerships.
  • Be willing to commit to regular committee meetings and contribute actively to projects between meetings.
  • Be able to commit to serving for the full committee term - 2 years total.
  • Be willing to collaborate with multidisciplinary and international colleagues in a respectful and inclusive manner.
  • Demonstrate good communication and organisational skills.
  • Be proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively within a team.
  • Previous experience in global health, international electives, research, education, charity work, or overseas partnerships is desirable but not essential.
