The learning objectives for this session were:
1. Participants will possess a deeper understanding of land trusts and how they function, as well as other conservation techniques used to preserve and enhance cultural resources, particularly in rural landscapes.
2. Participants will gain an appreciation for the Minidoka National Historic Site, Idaho (and by extension other Japanese Internment Camps), as well as the landscape of Wallowa County, Oregon (including the diverse cultural heritage from Nez Perce camps through to the settlement era of farming and ranching)
3. Participants will be able to identify opportunities and challenges to cultural resource preservation groups (at local, state and federal levels) partnering with land trusts and other conservation organizations.
4. Participants will leave with a variety strategies for rural landscape conservation (including local planning and zoning opportunities, educational outreach, etc.)
