2024 Texas State Independent Living Council Membership Application

Welcome & Introductions

Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Council. We seek dedicated people to join us and are delighted by your interest. Completing this survey brings you one step closer to joining the council. Once we receive these completed applications, we share them with the governor's office. They will have additional questions for you and forms to complete, but our staff is happy to assist you with that process. Federal law requires that the governor appoints our members, so this is why there is more than one step in becoming a Council member. Note that the governor's office considers candidates aged 18+ who hold American citizenship and are registered voters.

The Texas State Independent Living Council (SILC) is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that people with disabilities can choose the direction of their lives, including their level of independence.
