1. Introduction

The Calumet Collaborative is a new bi-state (Illinois & Indiana) nonprofit organization that is focused on advancing the Calumet region through transformative sustainable development. The Collaborative works to achieve this by convening meetings, connecting work, leveraging resources, and catalyzing action.

One of our 4 core initiatives is advancing comprehensive bi-state conservation strategies that protect and connect natural areas, and improve the quality of land, air, and water. Conservation work also connects residents and visitors to natural areas and recreation opportunities. Our Conservation Work Group hopes to create stronger partnerships, reduce the duplication of efforts, and support integrated project completion while highlighting and communicating all the great work being done in the Calumet region.

The Conservation Work Group will be taking on region-wide projects but need to assess the state of current conservation efforts along with needs, opportunities, and challenges for collective action before deciding on a direction to take. That being said, we’d greatly appreciate input on your organization’s main focus and geographic area of work, conservation priorities, resources needed, and the challenges you face.

This survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete, and the information gathered will help us to understand how the Calumet Collaborative can connect existing efforts and identify areas of opportunity for broader and positive regional impact. We hope to also foster an understanding and awareness of the ways in which the Collaborative can best lend support to your organization for future endeavors.

This survey will remain open until end of day Sunday September 9th, 2018.
