1. Why study journalism and trauma?

12% of survey complete.
Journalism can be a hazardous profession. For many journalists, covering trauma -- war, natural disasters, mass killings, and government uprisings -- is part of their daily routine, and some journalists have been covering violence for years.

The purpose of this study is to learn what, if any, support employers offer journalists who have covered trauma.

This questionnaire should take 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Your answers will be confidential.

This study is being conducted by two university professors who are interested in learning more about journalists who cover trauma. Dr. Anthony Feinstein is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Toronto in Canada. Dr. Barbara Barnett is a professor of journalism at the University of Kansas, USA. More information about the researchers is provided on the next pages.
