188th Avenue SW Proposed Road Closure - Community Feedback
Public Works staff are evaluating a proposal to permanently close of 188th Avenue SW between the Lucky Eagle Casino and Moon Road SW. If enacted 188th Ave SW would remain but only used during emergency purposes (e.g., flooding) and otherwise be closed to traffic. The benefits of a proposed closure include less traffic on Moon Rd SW, 183rd Ave SW and Forstrum St SW. Currently, traffic volumes on Moon Rd SW are over 3000 vehicles per day. If 188th Ave SW is closed traffic volumes on Moon Rd are expected to fall to less than 500 vehicles per day.
Thurston County is seeking community input on this proposal only. Road closures require Board of County Commissioner approval.
