Welcome to the Volunteer Sign-Up Survey for the Burnout Workshop for Women in Ministry

Background Information:
The purpose of this research is to increase conceptual clarity of interventions for burnout and tailor an evidence-based intervention for burnout to women in vocational ministry, a population that is lacking its own evidence-based treatment. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to fill out a short online demographic survey that is estimated to take 2 minutes, a short questionnaire assessing your burnout symptoms that is estimated to take 5 minutes, and a short form assessing psychological flexibility which is estimated to take 2 minutes. You are agreeing to virtually attend 5 weekly sessions that are each 1 hour long and will be asked to do a 3-minute mindfulness, meditation, or reflection exercise a few times a week. You will be able to sign up for the Wednesday from 6-7pm Pacific Time group or the Saturday from 9-10am Pacific Time group with other women who have volunteered for this study. Groups will meet once weekly for one hour from May 25-June 25.
Psychological interventions may elicit uncomfortable feelings of sadness, guilt, anxiety, or frustration. To minimize this risk, this study utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which is evidence-based for improvement in many mental health conditions as well as overall well-being. If participants feel unwanted negative emotions, they are encouraged to reach out to Lydia and may discontinue at any time without repercussion.
Great care will be taken to provide as much confidentiality as possible. Data will be stored in a password protected Excel document requiring multi-factor authentication to access the file store. Anti-malware and anti-viral software will be utilized. The data file will not be stored on a local PC, minimizing unauthorized access. Additionally, information that could be expected to affect current or future employment will not be collected. Individual results will be made available to anyone who is interested in the form of a secure email or a consultation with Lydia Marvin. Results of the study will be made available to anyone who is interested, in the form of a journal manuscript. If you have any questions/concerns about your participation in this research, you may contact this researcher via email at lydia@dmarvin.net or at 971-221-0940.
