About this survey

This survey is being conducted by the National Centre of Excellence (NACoE) and RoadTek to better improve safety at roadworks. NACoE is a collaboration between the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

This survey relates to two NACoE projects:

• NACoE R105 – Identify countermeasures to reduce the likelihood of incidents involving members of the public at mobile line marking operations on two-lane, two-way undivided roads.

• NACoE R106 – Identify countermeasures to reduce the likelihood of safety incidents involving members of the public at short-term roadwork sites.

These projects are investigating the interactions of Members of the Public (MOP) at short-term roadwork sites (short-term meaning one day or less) and mobile line marking convoy operations on two-lane, two-way undivided roads. These interactions have the potential to result in vehicle-to-vehicle or vehicle-to-person crashes, which are a significant safety risk for TMR and RoadTek.

Your completion of this survey will help our project team to better understand the demographics of traffic controllers, existing practices on site, the interactions with members of the public, and areas of concern at sites.

From this, our aim is to identify safety improvements to existing practices, alternative Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) and supporting devices to proactively reduce the likelihood of incidents occurring. The intent is to improve safety at short-term roadwork sites and mobile line marking convoy operations for both the members of the public and the road workers.

This survey is limited to persons conducting short-term roadworks or mobile line marking convoy operations within Queensland. We welcome contributions from:
• RoadTek employees & labour hire
• RoadTek traffic control sub-contractors
• TMR employees & labour hire
• Council workers
• Traffic management industry
• Any other person who may provide insightful survey responses

Please feel free to distribute the link to this survey to any interested persons. All responses to this survey will be kept completely anonymous to ensure open and honest responses.

If you have already participated in a one-on-one phone survey with our project team please do not complete this survey.

This survey will formally finish at close of business 30-06-2020.
