Building Our Own: Training our Clinical Preceptors

The quality of a program's clinical education experience depends to a great degree on the student having access to a qualified clinical instructor/preceptor. Standard III.B.5.a states "In classrooms, laboratories, and all clinical facilities where a student is assigned, there must be a qualified individual(s) clearly designated as a liaison(s) to the program to provide instruction, supervision, and timely assessments of the student's progress in meeting program requirements."  Standard III.B.5.b states, "Instructors must be knowledgeable in subject matter by virtue of appropriate credential(s), training, and experience in the designated content area."

Selected program directors of CAAHEP-accredited NDT and/or IONM programs will share their clinical preceptor training program. Interactive activities will allow participants to learn about inter-rater reliability to ensure that students are evaluated consistently when their clinical performance is equivalent.

This workshop is offered free of charge; however, pre-registration is required.
