Langley Small Farm Network

Help LEPS design the new Langley Small Farm Network program so that it benefits small-scale farmers.
Your responses will be confidential, but will directly inform what events and resources LEPS offers through this program in the coming year, starting late fall 2018.

There are three subcategories. Please answer all questions.
a) Getting started

Land access to start or expand your farm
Assessing which crops or livestock to produce, including market evaluation, soil testing, etc.
Financing your farm business
Basic production information and advice for common crops or livestock, and their  pests and diseases
Irrigation, drainage, and other water management
Help designing farm structures (barns, greenhouses, compost sheds, etc.)
Financial management advice (creating a business plan, structuring a business, financing options, goal-setting, record-keeping, evaluating the numbers, etc.)

b) Resources and operations

Accessing equipment and tools
Bulk purchasing of seeds, feed, packaging, or other inputs
Evaluating the best way to sell your products (different farmers' markets, direct, online, through cooperatives, through distributors, to restaurants, etc.)
Physically getting your product through the distribution system to customers (infrastructure for storage, processing, delivery, etc.)
Help navigating regulations (municipal bylaws, ALR restrictions, farm status/property tax, Fraser Health, Canada Revenue/farm income, etc.)
Processing your products for added value, including accessing equipment and navigating the applicable regulations
Opportunities to connect with other farmers in similar situations.

Accessing labour (seasonal, intern, migrant, etc.)
Advice on balancing work/life (managing stress, having a family while farming, getting time off, etc.)
Branding advice: marketing and promoting your products (creating a logo, making a website, using social media, print and other advertising, etc.)
Changing regulations to make it easier to do your good work
