9:00-11:00AM
Green River College (Kent Station)

This workshop covers important things adults need to know when advising students and families on financial aid verification, appeals and award letters. Completing and submitting the FAFSA or WASFA is the first step for students to access financial aid for their postsecondary education. Students selected for verification will need to provide documentation to ensure information reports on the FAFSA or WASFA is correct and all students must complete and submit their financial aid award letter to the institution they plan to attend to receive financial aid. This session will cover what to expect after submitting the FAFSA/WASFA in relation to the verification and financial aid award letter processes.

Participants can expect to:
• Better understand the process for verification, appeals and award letters
• Review sample award letters to understand the different components included
• Discuss and troubleshoot student scenarios related to receiving and accessing financial aid
• Access student and family resources related to verification and award letters

Target Audience: This training targets current practitioners in schools and CBOS who are supporting students to complete financial aid or advising students and families about financial aid. This training can be paired with the PSCCN Financial Aid training held in September 2018.
