ETH128 Learning from the Preservation of Sand Point Naval Air Station

The learning objectives for this session were:
1. Participants will gain knowledge of strategies to encourage reuse of buildings that have been employed at Sand Point Naval Air Station and other former bases
2. Participants will understand best practices regarding the role and use of a Historic Property Reuse and Protection Plan and the Secretary of the Interior Standards for Rehabilitation in guiding decisions relating to adaptive reuse.
3. Participants will learn about the challenges and opportunities of using Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits to offset development costs.
4. Participants will gain knowledge of how to adapt buildings to meet current codes while maintaining their integrity.
