The CHWW apprenticeship is a government-funded programme designed to upskill staff in health and care settings to take on key community-facing roles.
Over a 15 month period, individuals learn how to:
- Support people with social, emotional, and practical needs
- Promote health, wellbeing, and independence
- Navigate local services and reduce pressure on clinical teams
- Build trust with individuals and communities
The apprenticeship is ideal for staff in non-clinical patient-facing roles (Care Coordinators, Social Prescribing Link Workers, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, Patient Navigators etc) who want to develop skills in prevention, personalised care, and social prescribing.
Learners allocate 6 hours of their working week to the apprenticeship, which is split between lectures and workshops, self -paced learning and the practical application of skills.
Upon completion of the programme, learners receive a Government accredited apprenticeship qualification at Level 3.
The apprenticeship supports the NHS 10 Year Plan by creating sustainable, community-based roles.
