Dear Colleague:
The Ohio Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) Planning Committee is conducting a brief followup survey of those Ohio libraries, museums, historical societies and archives whose responses to the October, 2015 survey indicated a readiness for the earliest participation in an Ohio DPLA initiative. In order for us to move forward with our DPLA application we need to collect some additional technical and metadata information from your organization.

In order for us to move forward with our DPLA application we need to collect some additional technical and metadata information from your organization.
DPLA focuses on providing access to cultural heritage collections. We would be focusing on your digital image, audio, video collections, your digital scrapbooks, digital books and much else. At this time, however DPLA does not accept metadata that links to newspapers, electronic dissertations and thesis and other institutional repository type content, or licensed content, including licensed e-books and e-journals. DPLA has a major initiative underway for e-book collections and will be initiating a digital newspaper project which we can look forward to. Additionally we will not be able to provide metadata that links to archival finding aids.
Many of you have asked what subject areas DPLA is interested it. At this time, participants can contribute metadata for digital collections across any subject area, as long as your organization has the rights to make the content publicly available or the collection is in the public domain.
